REPORT
Team: Oscar Gosgrove, Ketan McDonald, Tyley Wilkinson, Ben Berry, Lloyd Harwood, Alex Ferro, Thomas Pennington and Mathew Scruton in Subs.
A good first half, we began passing the ball well and we had a strong defence. Alex and Lloyd worked hard at the back with Ben, Tyler and Ketan midfield, leaving Thomas up front. Once we used the wings to get crosses in it wasn't long before Thomas scored our goal, although we had quite a few chances that just went wide.
A change at half time brought Mathew in goals, Oscar in defence giving Alex a well earned rest. We were caught napping as Blue Star moved up the field at a faster pace in this half, and their first goal was a good clean shot. (They had hit the cross bar in the first half but the ref did not award the goal). They threw every man up front and amongst the tangle of bodies in the penalty box, the ball went in off one of our defenders.
Both sides had shots that just missed the target and towards the last 5 minutes the ball was never out of the opposition's penalty box, but no matter how we tried the ball just wouldn't go in the net!
Well played lads, a good start to the season, especially as it's the first match after the long summer break.
