Well our very first competitive game. We came up against a team in a similar position. Never played and learning the ropes.
The game started off very evenly but with Darwen creating more chances. After 15 mins Casey Jay broke through to score. Brierfield then started creating a bigger threat and were finally rewarded after 20 mins with a goal. Brierfield then took the lead with a deflected shot off one of their own players. With 5 minutes to go to half time Kelsey shot from half way to score our equaliser.
In the second half Brierfield dominated the play scoring from a long range shot after 40 minutes and a breakaway goal after 55 minutes.
Onto individuals
Charlotte in nets seemed timid but she has only just returned to training so will get stronger. Atlanta, Leah S and Kelsey were terrific in defence but need to clear the ball quicker.
Olivia, Casey R, Casey Jay, Leah T all played there hearts out in midfield, but need to be quicker to link up with the attack and getting back to defend.
Jade up front battled away all day, she needs to be more ruthless in front of goal, but she was our best player on the day.
Overall a very good start to the season. If we keep improving wins will surely come.
I must say a big thank you to Franco who let the game flow and let the girls make mistakes without being picky.
Finally a big thank you to Bob, Sean, the girls from Brierfield and all the Brierfield parents for making this match most enjoyable.
