Welcome to 3 new players for this season, Kurt Dillon, Kenan Gould and Steven Black.

1st Half
Our first game of the season so a good effort with our 10 players matching Clayton for commitment and football. Clayton made the extra man count after 20 mins which resulted in a penalty which they scored. Jack picked up a knee injury but to his credit carried on playing making some telling tackles. 2 goals followed in quick succession but it could have been more but for several brilliant saves by Matt.
2nd Half
The boys showed a great attitude, keeping their heads up and still trying to play football. It was hard going in midfield with Steve, Kurt, Connor and Kenan working hard together. Clayton played some good football only spoiled with timely clearances from Harry and Jack and solid tackles from Jayden and some good cover play from Max. The boys spirit and determination paid off with a shot on goal from kenan. They got their just rewards with Steve beating a man on the left wing with good skill and crossing for Adam who passed the ball into the net with confidence giving the keeper no chance. Just rewards for playing as a lone striker against 4 defenders. Matt raced off his line, bravely saving at the feet of the Clayton Strikers on many occasions which earned him the managers Man of the Match. Final score 6-1. The young referee performed well giving direction to the players were he could and giving his decisions confidently, well done.

Well done boys you showed good spirit and put in a lot of effort. The boys were well supported by Parents , Grand parents and younger brothers ( Robert Black ). It was good to see Christian Ferro out and about on his crutches in good spirits and supporting his mates.

Good effort all round. KEEP SMILING !!!!!

(Seldon Simms)
