1ST HALF
After last weeks difficult game the boys showed real spirit even though they had only 11 players. Good football followed with Christian and Adam both having shots before Blackburn Eagles troubled Matt in Goal. Pressure started to build with opposition using the wings but Harry and Jayden played their part with good tackles and interceptions. Last years centre halves Jack ‘O’ and Jack ‘T’ were sturdy renewing the partnership. A strong Blackburn Eagles team took the lead after 20 minutes with a second soon following. The boys knocked the ball between them and almost immediately a inch perfect through ball from Jack ‘O’ found Adam 30 yards out a touch inside the defender and he fired home from the edge of the box into the roof of the net. Kurt and Connor in midfield put a shift in working box to box whilst Steve on the left and Kenan on the right worked hard even though they saw little of the ball (well done ). A free kick 5 minutes before halftime was struck well by Jayden into the six yard box with Adam, Christian and Harry trying to get a touch. The keeper stood no chance as it bounced in. HT 2-2
2ND HALF
A fired up opposition scored within a minute of the restart with a fluid move down the left wing resulting in a great header from Blackburn Eagles centre forward. The opposition made a couple of substitutions which gave them the physical edge and a fourth and fifth goal followed. Kurt and Connor had kept making runs and challenges in midfield with Christian taking a knock on his knee having to go off. Adam soldiered on up front shooting at the keeper from Connors through ball. The boys looked up for the fight and worked hard tackling and trying to play football. Adam won a 50-50 ball passing to Harry on the wing, who passed first time into the channel were Adam shot from a wide angle about 20 yards out, the keeper saved but Kurt had run at least 50 yards to latch on to the follow up shooting low into the corner. Blackburn Eagles scored again to make the final result 6-3. A good game played in a good spirit by both teams, with both sets of supporters complementing good football. Guys, a great response to last weeks result. I know we didn’t win but you showed that you can listen, learn, improve and work hard for each other. The referee deserves a mention for a cheery approach to the game which rubbed off on the lads.
Thanks again to all who supported the team. Man of the match awarded by the referee was Matt Auernigg in goal.
Keep smiling!!!! (Seldon Simms) |
