We played equal top Clayton Park tonight who were undefeated after 3 games.
We kept our shape in most of the first half and played the ball on the floor, down the wings. First goal scored by Bailey after the ball came out of the area and he hit a rasper past 6 or 7 players low and hard.
Second came from Robert coolly slotting home, third came from Matt who hit a cross on the volley, fourth from Matt on a one and one with a great ball through from Tommo.
4-0 up with 25 minutes gone.
We had played quick tempo football with quick balls down the lines, defence stood up well with Jaden making his debut playing well at centre half. He was replaced by Jack who was again excellent.
Zac kept position and moved the ball well and Yaz put his head in all night where some feared to tread. Tommo held the ball up well for support play.
However, after 25 minutes if I had taken a photo of our midfield it would just have shown grass.
When will you learn that it is a team game and not about scoring for yourselves.
Second half, told at half time to play it on the floor and to the flanks – but you know better – hoof it in the air and watch the ball and with no shape.
Changes were made, Jordan played well in midfield and Zac scored a goal from outside the box. This was after Clayton had scored direct form a corner. 5-1.
Final goal came from Bailey who chipped the keeper.
Well played tonight boys - you have given me a headache but it’s a good one.
Let’s play simple and quickly and on the floor. Let’s practice shape, position and corners tomorrow.
Oh yes we missed a penalty after Tom was rugby tackled, I’ve never seen Macauley, the taker, run so fast to get back in his goals.
THE FUTURES BRIGHT …. THE FUTURES BLUE
