08/03/2010 - Fixtures 14 March

The Under 14 Girls' Consolation Cup semifinal against Mill Hill has been scheduled for Sunday, meaning that we have a full set of fixtures to look forward to. See the Fixtures bar for details.

07/03/2010 - Four injuries - get well soon lads!

Today's match reports have mentioned injuries to four of our players : Jason Aldcroft, Christian Ferro, George Taylor, Kallum Thompson-Wilson.

07/03/2010 - All reports from 6 and 7 March that have been received are now on the site

Here is Baz Skelton's report of the Under 13 Lads' 7-4 victory at Blackburn Eagles :

Goals
Bailey Wallace 2
Ieuan Skelton 1
Rob Jeffers 1
Matt Gillett 1
Ethan Potter 1
Luke Donnelly 1

A game of 2 periods period 1 when our heads dropped period 2 when their heads dropped.

We went into a quick lead of 3 up and were well in command then for some reason we decided to kick the ball aimlessly and duck out of headers which lead to Eagles realising that the ball over the top had us in chaos, it was only thanks to Macauley being in goals and having the presence to race out of his area and play the ball to safety on numerous occasions, however it did not stop Eagles getting it back to 4-3 at half time. Eagles had the beating of us in the second half but some resolute defending staved off the attacks, midfield disappeared and was chasing shadows, but then we got a couple of corners which were delivered perfectly by Bailey for Man of the Match Ieuan to smash in from 2 inches and for Luke to poke home with his shoulder.

Just like last week the scoreline does not give a fair reflection of the game it was much closer but we were worth the win

Lets all get back to challenging and playing as a team, when our backs were against the wall the blame culture reared its ugly head, calling your team mate does not help we all make mistakes. Chins up and fight for each other

THE FUTURES BRIGHT…. THE FUTURES BLUE

06/03/2010 - A late change of kickoff time for the Under 14 Boys

Sunday's match at Lammack has been changed to a 3pm kickoff. All selected players are to meet at 2.15pm at Old Blackburnians.

28/02/2010 - First fixtures of March

The matches for 6 and 7 March are now on the Fixtures bar. Please note that there are a couple of additions and the scheduled Under 16s' match has been postponed due to Inter-League team commitments.

28/02/2010 - Reports of matches 28 February

All reports received are now on the site.

A highlight was a cracking Cup match which unfortunately ended in a defeat on penalties for our Under 16s.

Another highlight was an excellent victory for our Under 10s, 5-3 against Globe Bullough Park. This match was actually played on Saturday instead of Sunday. Here is manager Dave Young's report :

Team: Tom Wilson, Louie Staffa, Oscar Cosgrove, Sam Yates, Cameron Cox (Capt), Ben Berry and Thomas Pennington.
Subs: Alex Ferro and Matthew Scruton.

This was a very pleasing match to watch .Each and everyone of the players named above played their part in this game.

Who would have thought after going one down, more or less, from the kick off that this game would have turned out the way that it did?
Globe brought their team to play and they certainly did that! I'd like to thank Mark and his team for what was a great game played in a manner befitting of U10s.

Today, Tom impressed! He impressed lots of people. He had very sure hands and nearly all of his kicks were pinpoint and accurate and covered huge distances. Well done Tom!
Louie played a blinder! He covered a lot of ground and made some good tackles when required. Well done Louie!
Ossie, what can we say? He really bossed the centre of the park. Congratulations on scoring a goal too! Well done Ossie!
Sam, steady as ever! Sam made some very good clearances and like Louie made some timely tackles. Well done Sam!
Cameron tore up the right hand side of the pitch today. Cameron played some great passes, through balls and was always looking to get the attack going down the line. His performance was further enhanced by scoring a wonderfully placed shot into the Globe goal. Congratulations on your goal Cameron, have a very happy birthday and, just to top it off, you were awarded the Man of the Match Award. What a day!! Very well done Cameron!
Ben. Ben has created a very nice problem! I will have to think long and hard about where to play him! From the first minute to the last, he gave it his all. There were runs, good throw ins and good tackles from him today. A brilliant performance topped off with two goals! I can't ask anymore!! Well done Ben!
Thomas was a thorn in the side of Globe today. He played some great football. I was really pleased to see you get your head up and play some effective balls, both out to the wing and through the centre. A great game Thomas, finished with a goal for you too! Well done Thomas.
Alex came on the second half to good effect to give Louie a well earned rest. Again, passes and tackles were the order of the day and Alex did it all. Well done Alex.
Matthew played for a while up front and tried really hard. It was a 100% committed performance that he put in and it was a display that will be built on. Well done Matthew.
So, there we are, 5 goals in a game (against a very good side)! We've done it! Three points! You have earned them by playing as a team! Like I have said, it's been coming for a long time.
Now that we have sampled victory, let's enjoy it, reflect on it and build on it!

See you all at training on Friday!

Again, a huge "thank you" to all the people who put the equipment away today - we were all away for 1pm!
Thanks to Emma for taking the kit to be washed.
My thanks also go to Paul for his involvement in warming up Tom before the match.
Once again, thanks to Globe for playing their part in a well contested match - all the best for the rest of the season guys!
