| 17/11/2008 - Preview of our League matches on 23 November |
14 Darwen Rangers teams are due to play, 5 of these returning after a break :
Our Under 10 Boys have been without a fixture for several weeks. Their comeback game is a tough one, away to Great Harwood Rovers who have a 100% record so far this season.
It is also a tricky assignment against the League leaders for our Under 10 Juniors, who host Blue Star Colts.
The Under 15s opened their season with a 7-0 home win against Rossendale United Lads, Sunday's opponents. The Under 11s host Mellor Juniors Yellow and would probably be happy with a repeat of their 4-2 victory over this opposition on 9 November. |
Our Under 9s hope to complete a 'double' over Mill Hill Blue in their Sandy Lane fixture. |
|
|
| 17/11/2008 - Our first player to be sponsored this season is ..... |
.... Taome Caville of the Under 13 Girls. Thanks to The Kay Group for sponsoring her.
We hope to have plenty more sponsorships to report soon. |
|
| 17/11/2008 - Our Under 10 Lads are looking for a goalkeeper |
| If anyone reading this is interested in joining our Red League squad, phone manager Neil Cameron on 706721 for further details. You need to have been under 10 on 31 August 2008. |
|
| 16/11/2008 - The remainder of Sunday's review - our Eagles return to action in style! |
Our Under 16 Eagles faced Sporting Athletic in our first game for several weeks. After a slow start, we recovered to emerge as 2-1 victors. The other team that have had a long break, the Under 13 Girls, put in a creditable performance with League debutant Sophie Aspin starring, but were beaten 5-2 by Barnoldswick Barons.
The Under 13 Boys (right) were involved in arguably the game of the day against Lammack Juniors. As far as goalscoring was concerned, we were always playing catch-up, eventually losing by the odd goal in eleven, but congratulations go to our Boys for showing such a great fighting spirit.
Maxwell Ellison had an outstanding game for the Under 7s, although the result was not the one that we had hoped for, while our Under 12 Boys suffered a defeat. We have no details of how our Under 10 Lads fared in the Cup. |
Hard luck, Boys. The game against Lammack was closer than our first meeting against them this season. |

|
| 16/11/2008 - The first part of Sunday's review - our Under 12 Lads make progress in the Cup |
Our Under 12 Lads met opponents from a higher league in the form of Lammack Juniors. With home advantage, we surged into a commanding halftime lead and ended up 5-1 winners. The Player of the Match award went to Matt Gillett.
The Under 8s went to Mill Hill White in the League and played well but were beaten 4-2, with Rhys Posteraro being Rangers' star player.
Our Under 14 Lads started well but finished with a heavy defeat, while our Under 9s' match was postponed. |

|
| 10/11/2008 - A preview of Sunday's Cup and League action |
Our Under 10 Lads meet fellow Red League opposition in the second round of the Cup in the form of Clitheroe Wolves Red. The League table suggests that we are the favourites, but we were beaten by this team earlier in the season in the League.
The Under 12 Lads make their Cup debut for the season. They host Lammack Juniors, who have lost all of their games so far in the higher Yellow League.
Three teams return after last Sunday's postponements : Our Under 13 Boys face a tough test at Lammack. Our Under 12 Boys host Preston United, who beat us earlier in the season but later lost the points to us after it emerged that they had fielded at least one ineligible player. This game has been moved to Pleckgate. Our Under 14 Lads try again with their match at Padiham Saints.
Another two teams are back in action after a few weeks without a game : the Under 13 Girls are away to Barnoldswick Barons and the Under 16 Eagles meet Sporting Athletic at Pleasington. In both cases, a win will take us level with our opponents.
The Under 15s' scheduled game has been postponed due to Walton-le-Dale playing in the L.F.A. Youth Cup. |
As well as the matches featured on the left, our three youngest teams are also in action - see the Fixtures bar on the homepage for further details. |
