(report by manager Garry Fowles)
We competed in the Lammack tournament today. There were five other teams which were Mellor, Great Harwood, Westgrath Rangers, Marauders Vulcans, Lammack. We played each team once over 8mins games. We started nervously against Lammack which we drew 0-0, second game was against a very good team in Marauder Vulcans which we lost 2-0 but we pulled ourselves together and won our next two games against Westgrath and Great Harwood with 1-0 and 2-0 wins . A great team goal with Ketan Mcdonald putting a great cross for Tom Pennington to put it away. The next game was the 'Luke Brooks Show' with two outstanding goals and great team display .We lost our last game to Mellor 4-0 which I think we was a game ahead of ourselves and didnt play at all and the lads new that but we had got to the semi-finals and met the Vulcans again. We lost this game 3-0 but gave it a real go, nearly scoring the first goal against them in the whole tournament with a silky back heel from our defender Ossy Cosgrove but was saved by the keeper. Unfortunately that was it and we went out in the semis. But i have to say that all ten players i took played their hearts out and this was the first game for some of the players Luke Brooks, Josh Bradley, Sam Newsham and Kelan Turner. Well done lads - if we play like we did in the first four games we should be right up there when the league kicks off - well done again and thanks to you all!! And also thanks to all the parents for coming and support your lads - you can be very proud of them!
Just a quick note - Marauder Vulcans were an extremely good side from Manchester and the majority of the team had Academy players from both Man City and Man Utd - with this in mind, our lads excelled themselves in their efforts today! |
